Finally time to release the “Lost in Time” shawl pattern. The name came to me becouse of the vintage feeling it has and also that the time flies by working on this shawl 🙂 This pattern is a repetition of 12 rows which means you can use any yarn or hook and customizing your shawls size by the number of repetitions.
Thank you so much Charlotta Hjortbacken (@charlottahjortbacken on Instagram) and Lisa Cook (@lisasattik on Instagram) for testing this design ❤
This shawl is made of bits and pieces of Scheepjes Catona, a 1oo % cotton yarn, and hook 4.0 mm. The size is aprox 145 cm wing span and 75 cm over the spine, tassels not included. The total amount of yarn is between 6 and 7 skeins of Catona 50 g. For this multi coloured version use the color guide at the bottom of this page.
You can buy the yarn for this version of the shawl via my Amazon US Storefront *. Be sure to look at the color guide below as a reference for yarn quantities.

Hi Johanna, I have found a youtube tutorial in a language that I am not familiar with. However I was able to follow along and I love this pattern. I am about to start my youtube channel and I would love to start by making the tutorial in english and I could also do it in french, as many comments were requesting it in English-language. I do however live in Quebec and speak french also fluently. I was wondering if we could communicate on the subject. Please contact me estelletourret2@gmail.com. thank you and keep creating you are amazing!

I get many questions about making video tutorials with my patterns. I know that many crocheters out there would enjoy that, but at the moment I have to say no to those requests due to my patterns being used inappropriate by others. Im so grateful that so many out there like my designs and want to help me create videos and I hope you understand my dilemma 🌸

I saw one on youtube called the wintershawl, tons of mistakes between the video version and the written pattern on her site. I really cant see any difference between hers and yours. I thought maybe you had given permission for her to make a video with your pattern and changed the name of the shawl. 😦

Hello,
I have completed the shawl in the original colors and it looks great! Very very beautiful pattern, the final result makes me happy and proud!
I would like to complete it with the tassels as shown in pictures, is there any instruction for making them the same as in the original pattern?
Thank you

I love the name and I love this shawl! It looks incredibly beautiful and I never make myself anything but I may have to break with tradition. Ah. Absolutely wonderful! I love old fashioned things and romantic and this fits the bill. And I have to tell you a big THANK YOU! So many times I see patterns listed and I click on them and it takes me to an Etsy shop and I just can’t afford to buy a pattern for everything I want. You’re incredibly generous to be posting this for free! This would be a cinch for anyone using one of those self striping yarns! Thank you thank you thank you!

There is a full stitch count until row 26 in the pattern 😉

There are two dc to start, five 8 dc groups (down one side), one dc-ch2-dc (in the tip), five 8 dc groups (up the other side), and two dc to end. Does this help?
LikeLike
I only have 46 stitches each side on row 13 so I thought I had done row 12 wrong. Your pattern says 47. On each side I have 3 dc 40 fpdc and 3 dc which is 46
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hi, Nancy! I wonder if you are missing the fpdc in the second dc on the first side and the next-to-last dc on the second side? So–you start row 13 with a ch3 (which counts as the first dc) and then do 2 dc in the first dc, that’s 3. Then you do an fpdc in the second dc. That’s 1. Then you do an fpdc in the next 40 stitches (the five 8 dc groups). That’s 40. Then you do 3dc-ch2-3dc in the ch2 space. That’s the last 3 of the first side and the first 3 of the second side. 40 more fpdc in the five 8 dc groups, 1 fpdc in the next-to-last dc, and 3 dc in the last dc. 3+1+40+3 = 47.

Hi I am on my third repeat and my “row22 popcorn /dc row” is an odd number 27 pop corns is this going to throw my pattern out ? When I’ve done the dc 2 ch dc in the next row it doesn’t look like it’s going to finish right ?
LikeLike
Hi! The popcorns increases with 10 every repetition so you need to have 28 popcorns to get the following rows right.

Johanna, I’m sure you saw that Lost in Time was the second most crocheted pattern on Revelry last year, as well as the most queued and most commented on for crochet! Congratulations!

You do indeed! And it’s the first thing you see when you go to ravelry.com (oops! I just noticed autocorrect changed “Ravelry” to “Revelry” above)! I’m not surprised. I’m in a lot of crochet groups on Facebook, and people are always showing their Lost in Time shawls, and everyone says “OOH! Where’d you get that pattern?” My LYS is doing a Lost in Time crochet along. And there are more than 2,000 projects on Ravelry! And you DESERVE all the accolades! 🙂 ❤

I too am a knitter but have fallen in love with your LiT pattern! I have a question: your English version says to repeat rows 15-26. On the original color chart, you have rows 22-24 worked in the same color. Does row 27 start with row 15? If so, the repeated rows would begin on row 34, not row 35. Thanks for your help!
LikeLike
Ach! I just figured out the answer to my own question. In the second and third sections, you only repeat TWO rows, not three. ‘Sorry for troubling you! I can’t wait to get started!

Hi, I’m working on my second lost in time shawl and found I have some small crystal beads that match my whirl yarn perfectly and would add some sparkle! But, I’m not sure which row they would look good in other than the final picot’s. what would you suggest?

That sounds lovely. The last row will be good for pearls but maybe also in the sc of a sc, ch 1, sc row in the middle of a mesh part?
