Lost in Time

Finally time to release the “Lost in Time” shawl pattern. The name came to me becouse of the vintage feeling it has and also that the time flies by working on this shawl 🙂 This pattern is a repetition of 12 rows which means you can use any yarn or hook and customizing your shawls size by the number of repetitions.

Thank you so much Charlotta Hjortbacken (@charlottahjortbacken on Instagram) and Lisa Cook (@lisasattik on Instagram) for testing this design  ❤

This shawl is made of  bits and pieces of Scheepjes Catona, a 1oo % cotton yarn, and hook 4.0 mm. The size is aprox 145 cm wing span and 75 cm over the spine, tassels not included. The total amount of yarn is between 6 and 7 skeins of Catona 50 g. For this multi coloured version use the color guide at the bottom of this page.

You can buy the yarn for this version of the shawl via my Amazon US Storefront *. Be sure to look at the color guide below as a reference for yarn quantities.

  3. Johanna, I love this and so many other of your patterns! Thank you for being so generous with your designs and your time! I would like to do the same colors as you and am ready to order my yarn. Would you say you used less than 1 skein per color? I know some colors were used in one or two rows, so clearly I would only need 1 skein for those colors. But do you think one skein of the other colors is enough, or should I be safe and order two each? No rush on your reply. Happy day!

    1. If it wasnt you, this was my answer 😊

Sorry I missed your question. Since I used scraps I cant say how much of each colour I used. The yellows and silver green are the once used most so they could be more than one skein. The total wheight of the shawl is aprox 325 g. I hope this helps a little.

      2. Do you have a guide as to when you use each of the colors in the multi-color version? I have the English pattern and the list of colors but do not know to use each one. Thank you!

      1. Johanna, I think Gueli is asking for a Spanish translation. 🙂 If she knew someone who was willing to translate into Spanish, would you give that person permission?

  7. I adore this shawl! However, I am extremely challenged when it comes to reading or figuring out a pattern. I would happily pay for a really good step by step video tutorial for this pattern.

      1. Sorry, I can’t read charts either. They just make no sense to me. For some reason they’re beyond me. I’ve pretty much just made things up as I go. Oh well, it was worth asking. Peace 🙂

  8. In row 13 of Lost in Time Shawl it states “1 fp dc in every dc” but the corresponding photo shows bp dc in every dc can you confirm which is correct please, thank you.

  9. I love your pattern!

Do you possibly have the stitch counts past row 26? My third repeat of the popcorn row I’m only getting 27 and everyone has 28

  10. In row 13, 3 ch, 2dc in the first stitch, fp dc in every dc and 3 dc, 2ch 3 dc only gives me 46 dc’s not 47 per side. Is it a mistake in the pattern or my mistake. I undid it several times and followed the pattern its still only 46. Could you explain?

    Like

    1. I also got 46 per side. I don’t see where it says to crochet a dc in the “second” dc of the side before the first shell.

      1. Thanks for clarifying that for me. For some reason I keep getting only 31 dc on r17. I have done it over 3 times now, any tips?

Thanks again for such a beautiful pattern.

  11. I want to crochet this shawl but I’m not able to print the pattern. MY printer prints other pdf patterns and other pages but I can’t print any of your pages for the “Lost In Time” pattern. Please advise.

    1. Laurel, maybe you are having the same problem I did: The size of this “A4,” which is approximately 8.26″ x 11.69″. The standard size of U.S. printers is 8.5″ x 11.” Now, this wasn’t a problem for my home printer–I just chose “Fit” on the Adobe Reader print dialog box, and it printed just fine. But my work computer was a little more persnickety–it wanted me to specify which drawer was A4. I never could figure out how to tell it it was OK to print on the smaller paper, and the “Fit” option in Reader didn’t help, so I took a screen cap of every page, pasted it into Microsoft Word, and then sized the image to be no more than 11 inches high. I hope these ideas either work for you or give you additional ideas to try!

  12. Do you have the pattern written in only English without the other language directions to sort through? I cannot decipher where they should be separate

    1. At the moment there is no pattern with only english. If you take another look you can see that all english is written in red to make it clearer (swedish is grey)

  13. Thank you for offering these patterns free. I am retired, and spend all my free time crocheting. Winter I do afghans, and summer I do doilies…..Have quite a collection with free patterns by kind people like you, and the hundreds of books that I have. Some bought, and some from a dear friend that passed away last spring. Everytime I do something new, she used to say before it was ever finished, “that one is mine” From the time I had retired in 2012 and the time of her passing, I had given her 57 doilies and had made 3 large afghans……..surely do miss her…….<3

  14. Hi there, just love your pattern, thank you so much for publishing it as free. Just a quick question, do you have a reference to the stitch count for every row after row 26. I would love to have it just to monitor my stitch count. Sorry for being a bother.

      1. Hi. Thank you so much for the reply. I will keep that in mind, and just concentrate a little bit more on the beginning, as that is where I would normally not add a stitch there. Thank you once again for such a lovely pattern 😉

  16. Your Lost In Time Shawl is truly beautiful. Stopped me in my tracks surfing on Ravelry. Unfortunately, my crochet skills are quite limited..mostly to edgings on finished knitting projects. By any chance would you have a pattern for Lost In Time for knitters? I would so love to make and wear your magnificent creation in the same yarns but using knitting needles. Thanks.

  17. Hello. Thank you for the beautiful shawl. Question. In the written pattern on row 14 indicates 45 DC each side. But the chart shows only 31? Which is correct?

      1. Hi and thank you – its a beautiful pattern – I am past row 26 – and I’m wondering the statement above regarding the increase after row 26, indicates only the popcorn stitches will increase? won’t the other stitches also increase?
