The Geometric Journey CAL starts!

Welcome my new Infinitum Quadrata reversible mosaic pattern. This is a versatile pattern that can be used to make shawls, scarfs, pillows, blankets, bags, etc. Anything that requires a rectangular or square shape can be made with this pattern. In this pattern I make a rectangular shawl, but I also added instructions how to customize width and lenght, so that you can make what you like with this pattern.

When using the reversible mosaic technique the shawl (blanket etc) will looks the same on both sides. There is no right or back side and the shawllooks gorgeous in any way you put it on. As an additional perk you never cut the yarn until the shawl is all done.

To master this reversible mosaic technique you need how to make make the half double crochet spike stitch (hdc-spike, US terms). I made a video tutorial showing this stitch and the reversible mosaic crochet technique when I released my Geometric Journey CAL earlier this year. The video is available in my Facebook Group Mijo Crochet Hangout and on YouTube. The video shows the first 12 rows of the geometric Journey CAL pattern, but the half double crochet spike stitches are the same as in this pattern.

The fading color effects of this shawls is created by altering between a gradient Scheepjes Cotton Whirl yarn cake and a solid colored Scheepjes Cotton Whirlette yarn (see more yarn details below).

Even if this pattern looks advanced, it is made using only basic crochet stitches (chain, slip stitch, single crochet and half double crochet, US terms). If you can master these stitches, you can make this shawl.

When I wrote this pattern I was aiming for that even a new (adventurous) crocheter would be able to follow and make it. Each part of this pattern has written instructions, many progress photos and a chart. I’m also be available in my FB group Mijo Crochet Hangout.
