När jag översatte Mark Rosebooms vackra mönster Solstice till Svenska fick jag idén att använda första delen av mönstret för att virka överdrag till mina tråkiga korkunderlägg. Mönstret passade perfekt och med Marks tillåtelse beskriver jag nedan precis hur jag gjorde. Originalmönstret är en underbart vacker mandala-duk som du kan se bilder på och läsa mer om på Marks blogg, the guy with the hook… Passa också på att titta på Marks andra mönster, det ena mer kreativt och färgsprakande än det andra.

When I translated the beautiful Solstice pattern by Mark Roseboom I got the idea to use the first part of the pattern to make covers for my dull cork trivets. The pattern worked perfectly and with Mark’s blessing I describe below exactly how I did. The Original Solstice pattern is a wonderful mandala which you can see pictures of and read more about on Mark’s blog, the guy with the hook… Also, be sure to look at Mark’s other designs, one more creative and colorful than the other.

Du behöver / You will need:

• Mönstret Solstice.
• Korkunderlägg “heat”, 19 cm i diameter, från IKEA eller annat underlägg i samma storlek.
• Virknål 3,0 mm.
• Garn Scheepjes Catona. Färg A: 50 g och färg B, C, D och E: 10 g av vardera färg.
• Stoppnål och sax.

Jag använde rester av Scheepjes Catona garn till mina underlägg och kan därför inte ange exakta färgnummer.

• The Solstice pattern.
• Cork trivets “heat”, 19 cm in diameter, from IKEA or another trivet with the same dimensions.
• Hook 3.0 mm.
• Scheepjes Catona yarn. Color A: 50 g and color B, C, D and E: 10 g of each color.
• Tapestry needle and scissors.

I used leftovers of Scheepjes Catona and can therefor not give you the specific color numbers.

För att underlägget ska vara platt bytte jag ut alla popkorn i varv 2 till puffar.
Virka varv 1-14 enligt mönstret Solstice. När varv 14 är klart har du 128 maskor.
Resterande varv virkas i färg A.

To keep the trivet flat I made puffs instead of popcorns in row 2.
Crochet row 1-14 according to the Solstice pattern. When row 14 is done you have 128 stitches.
Following rows are made with color A.

Varv 15: 2 lm (= 1 st), 1 st i vardera m varvet ut. Sm i den 2:a lm i början av varvet.
[128 m]

Row 15: Ch2 (= 1 dc), 1dc in each st until end of the row. Ss in the 2nd ch in the beginning of the row. [128 st]

Varv 16: 2 lm (= 1 st), 1 st i nä m, 2 st tills i nä 2 m. (1 st i nä 2 m, 2 st tills i nä 2 m) varvet ut. Sm i den 2:a lm i början av varvet. [96 m]

Row 16: Ch2 (= 1 dc), 1dc in next st, dc2tog in next 2 st. (1dc in next 2 st, dc2tog in next
2 st) until end of the row. Ss in the 2nd ch in the beginning of the row. [96 st]

Varv 17: 2 lm, 1 st i nä m (= 2 st tills), 1 st i nä m. (2 st tills i nä 2 m, 1 st i nä m) varvet ut. Sm i den 1:a st i början av varvet. [64 m]

Row 17: Ch2, 1dc in next st (= dc2tog), 1dc in next st. (dc2tog in next 2 st, 1dc in next st) until end of the row. Ss in the 1st dc in the beginning of the row. [64 st]

Varv 18: 2 lm (=1 st), 1 st i nä 3 m. (2 st tills i nä 2 m, 1 st i nä 4 m) varvet ut. Detta varv går inte jämnt ut, utan du avslutar när du kommer till de första lm på varvet. Sm i den 2:a lm i början av varvet.

Row 18: Ch2 (= 1 dc), 1dc in next 3 st. (Dc2tog in next 2 st, 1dc in next 4 st) until end of the row. This row will not end up even, you just finish when you get to the first ch2. Ss in the 2nd ch in the beginning of the row.

Varv 19: 1 lm (= 1 fm), 1 fm i varje m varvet ut. Sm i den 1:a lm i början av varvet. Klipp av garnet och fäst dina ändar.

Row 19: Ch1 (= 1 sc), 1sc in each st until end of the row. Ss in the 1st ch in the beginning of the row. Cut yarn and fasten your ends.
